Frequently asked questions
Everything people ask us before booking. Something missing? Write to us.
What level do I need to swim with orcas?
No diving or freediving experience is required. You need to be able to swim, be comfortable in the water and be able to breathe through a snorkel. Entries are made at the surface, in a drysuit, with mask and snorkel provided, always under the supervision of the crew.
Is there a minimum age?
Yes, the trip is open from age 16. Minors take part accompanied by a responsible adult.
How do meals work?
Meals are not included in the price and are not provided by a caterer. The group shops and cooks together in the house, with everyone lending a hand. It is sociable, flexible, and it lets each person manage their own budget and food preferences.
How do I get to Skjervøy?
The most practical airport is Tromsø, served from several European cities. From there, a journey remains to reach Skjervøy, either by road or by the regional boat service. Flights and transfers are not included in the price; we advise you on the options once the dates are set.
What happens if we do not see any orcas?
These are wild animals, free to move as they please: no sighting can be guaranteed, and nobody serious would promise otherwise. That is exactly why the trip includes several outings rather than one. The conditions that apply if an outing is cancelled due to weather are set out in our terms.
Do I need travel insurance?
It is strongly recommended. Check that it covers cancellation, assistance and repatriation, as well as water activities in cold water. Insurance is not included in the price of the trip.
What should I bring?
Drysuit, mask and snorkel are provided. Bring your personal kit: warm thermal base layers, warm and windproof clothing for the deck, hat, gloves, warm waterproof footwear, a towel, swimwear, and waterproof protection if you bring a camera or phone.
How many people are in the group?
Eight people, up to nine depending on the layout of the house. It is deliberately limited: one group, one house, one boat.
When are the next trips?
Departures take place several times a season and the dates are set according to the availability of the house, the boat and the group. Write to us with your availability: we reply within 48 hours with what is feasible.
